There is no need of consulting any soothsayer before someone will know that all is not still well with the Nigeria’s Football, as the unfortunate crisis, corruption and unfaithfulness on the part of football administrators.
The lingering woes of NFF have taken a new twist during the week, as the only Super Eagles that was given due attention is currently share from the show of shame at Nigeria Football governing body.
It’s a known fact that the current NFF leadership under the leadership of the Amaju Pinninck has in the past, place highest priority on the Super Eagles team than every other national team; a step that has given Nigeria positive results and at the other hand affected the development and growth of other teams in the country.
Today, the Amaju Pinnick led NFF and the Super Eagles Coach, Genort Rohr is at each other’s throat. It’s unfortunate that the Super Eagles head coach and his employer NFF are in serious cold war and pointing fingers at each other over the contract extension, bonus, disrespect and the others.
Genort Rohr, the German tactician have in the last 40 months helped the Super Eagles qualify for many competitions while the results so far were not bad when compared with other coaches performances.
But his employers have started making troubles a sign that they may not extend his contract come June 31, 2020.
Super Eagles gaffer Gernot Rohr, who is no longer comfortable with his contract terms with the NFF dealt a first blow by, given his employer, NFF a two month ultimatum to tidy up things or lose him to new admirers who want to woo him over.
According to reports gathered by AljazirahNigeria Sports, Coach Rohr insists, he might be forced to quit the job if the situation is not quickly addressed.
The 66 year old Franco- German expressed that “As from January 1, 2020, he will be free to engage elsewhere”, if nothing is settled by then.
“There are interesting prospects, calling me for the AFCON 2021, the World Cup 2022. But first, we must regularize things.”
It’s also on record that, recently, the Franco-German tactician held talks with Nigeria’s Sports Minister, Sunday Dare on extending his contract for two or three years, with his current deal with the NFF set to run out in 2020 where Minister told the world that it’s the duty of NFF to re-new or not.
Also, AljazirahNigeria Sports gathered that, Rohr is believed to be owed three months salary by his employers, the NFF. The wages are totalled $150,000 as he is on a monthly salary of $50,000.
In a quick reaction within 24 hour, NFF queried and fire a serious warning at Gernort Rohr over disclosure of technical matter to the public and the ultimatum threat.
NFF asked Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr to explain reasons behind several breaches of the contract that he signed, which forbids him to divulge to the public/media information on some aspects of the contract.
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, NFF’s Technical Director, Bitrus Bewarang said Mr. Rohr’s new-found love for disclosing information beyond technical matters to the media is highly unprofessional and against the spirit and letter of his contractual relationship with the football ruling body.
“In as much as we appreciate the work that Mr. Rohr has been doing with the Super Eagles in the past 40 months, his recent penchant for breaching provisions of the contract he signed with the NFF and the Code of Conduct for coaches is not good for the relationship.
“The NFF wishes that Mr. Rohr continues in the job because of the team he is building for Nigeria which looks promising and has earned some good results since he took charge, but he cannot continue to nonchalantly cause the NFF as a body, and Nigeria as a nation, reputational damage through his utterances and actions,” Bewarang said.
“Coaches must not by their actions or inaction cause NFF or the Federal Government of Nigeria any harm, reputational damage or embarrassment, nor do anything directly or indirectly to undermine their contract with the NFF.
