Reno Omokri, a former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has advised the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) not to call off their strike unless their demands are met.
Following the announcement by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of the arrest of the Accountant General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris, for suspected involvement in N80 billion in fraud and money laundering, he stated this in a tweet on Tuesday.

Nigeria’s accountant-general was arrested on Monday, according to reports, “after failing to honor invitations” from the EFCC to respond to the claims.

He asked the lecturers to demand that the Federal Government recompense them for the N80 billion that Nigeria’s arrested treasury chief is alleged to have stolen.

“Dear ASUU,” Omokri wrote. You have no reason to cease your strike if the Accountant General of the Federation can steal $80 billion.

“Ask Buhari to pay you with the stolen $80 billion and retain the change.” After all, the amount you’re requesting isn’t even close to $80 billion!

“Just look at Nigeria’s moral bankruptcy. Buhari did not fire or arrest the same Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, for marrying a 16-year-old girl.”
