Governor of Rivers Nyesom Wike stated that any candidate put forth by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will win the state’s governorship election in 2023.
The Governor urged PDP supporters to view Mr. Siminialayi Fubara’s election as the party’s governorship candidate as an act of God.
Many candidates tried to win the governorship ticket, but only one person succeeded, Wike stated in a statement after the governorship primary poll.
The Governor further stated that with Fubara’s victory, the Rivers PDP now had a candidate to run in the 2023 governorship election.
“With our administration’s achievements and what we have accomplished in this state, there is no candidate that the PDP would submit that will not win election,” he added.
“Our campaign will be focused on the fact that we made commitments to the state to build roads and other infrastructure, and people will ask us if we have followed through on those pledges. We have, in fact.
“What have you done for Rivers State, we’ll question them (other parties)?” Nothing, to be sure. So, who is to say that any other political party will be able to win this state? Don’t be fooled by anyone who tells you otherwise.”
PDP officials in Rivers would form a team after the presidential primary to ensure that the party wins the gubernatorial election in 2023, according to Wike.
The immediate former Accountant-General of Rivers State, Fubara, regarded his triumph as proof of grace.
He urged all members of the party to rally behind his triumph and the new push to build on Wike’s accomplishments.
“It is not a victory for Fubara,” he remarked. The party has triumphed. It is not only a triumph for the party, but also a victory for the state.
“The goal of this unique event this evening is to build on the accomplishments of this administration on all fronts.”
“We’ll work together to keep the good job that this administration has already done for us going.”
