Lagos Central ticket: Deputy Speaker Wasiu Sanni beats ex-Minister Demola Seriki

Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni, Deputy Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, will contest the state’s Central Senatorial election in 2023.

He won the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket on Saturday, after defeating three other contestants.

The current occupier, Senator Oluremi Tinubu had announced she would not run again.

Tolani Sule, Chairman, APC Electoral Committee/Returning Officer announced Eshinlokun-Sanni’s victory.

The former Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government scored 185 votes to defeat his closest rival, Demola Seriki who got 97.

Seriki, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, was at different times the Minister of Water Resources, Mines & Steel, (Agriculture – State) and (Defence – State).

In other results, Akeem Apatira scored 22 votes while Oyinlomo Danmole had zero vote.

Sule confirmed that 308 ad hoc delegates were accredited out of 310 expected.

The returning officer said the total number of votes cast was 304 with no invalid votes
