Kalu Ikeagwu, a Nollywood actor, told an Ikeja High Court on Monday how his separated wife, Ijeoma, reportedly abandoned their matrimonial house and denied him sex after their baby was born.
Ikeagwu is trying to dissolve his six-year marriage to Ijeoma in the suit LD/8939HD/2021, according to the Nigerian News Agency.

In addition, the star wants full custody of his three-year-old son and ten-year-old stepdaughter.

Ikeagwu said his wife packed out of his matrimonial home and sent him a mail saying she was on her way to her father’s house in Enugu under cross-examination by the respondent’s counsel, Mrs S.I. Amedu.

He, on the other hand, said that he later saw her with the children at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, contradicting her account.

“On August 4, 2021, I returned home from a trip to discover that my wife had left our matrimonial house with the children to an undisclosed place,” he claimed.

“When I got to the house, I tried to call her but it was empty. On the same day, I wrote her an email, and she responded that she had gone to her father’s house in Enugu.

“She said she was in her father’s house in Enugu, and four days later, I spotted her at the Lagos airport, on her way to who knows where.” She stated in her mail that she was in Enugu.”

Ikeagwu also refuted claims that he evicted his wife and children and failed to pay for their needs.

“I did not send her out of the house,” he explained. Someone needs to explain why it takes four days to go from Lagos to Enugu.

“When you say ‘you’re on your way,’ you’re implying that the sentence is ongoing. She was on her way, it was said flatly.

The star reportedly claimed that his wife refused him sex and splashed water on him while he was sleeping in court.

The petitioner further claimed he was unaware that when they were together, his wife lost a pregnancy due to a Sexually Transmitted Infection.

“Since the birth of our son, she has refused to have sex with me,” he continued. I had no idea she had lost the pregnancy owing to an illness because I had not given her any.

“I have yet to see any report connected to a paperwork stating that she had lost a baby due to an STD.” Despite the fact that I did not inquire as to why she had lost the baby.”

Ikeagwu claims he stopped giving money to his stepdaughter’s care and maintenance because his wife denied he was the father.

He went on to say that she accused him of attempting to sleep with the child and that she had refused to acknowledge the money he had sent her.

“I sent money to them the final time in November 2021. “I stopped sending money because my wife denied that I was the father of my stepdaughter and accused me of trying to sleep with her,” the actor explained.

The actor stated he had knowledge that his wife wanted to relocate the children, which is why he was seeking custody of his stepdaughter, whom he had previously sought revocation of guardianship for.

“I want custody of the two children,” he stated. My wife had turned my stepdaughter against me, and I had had the impression that she meant to send the kids abroad, so I sought revocation.

“Before marrying my wife, I had never been married to a woman.” After she gave birth to her daughter, I married her.

“I previously stated that the reason for the revocation was because I believed she wanted to utilize me. Look at how I’ve handled the girl since the beginning, my Lord.

“I work as an actor and go to sites both within and outside of Nigeria, where I can spend anywhere from five days to a month.”

Justice Christopher Balogun had previously ordered the children to play in court with their father and the respondent to provide receipts for the children’s tuition payments.

“You can’t deny the children the greatest education even if you’re quarrelling with your wife,” Balogun remarked, citing the Child’s Right Act.

“If I should as a judgment grant you a divorce, and if your wife is in Enugu and you stay in Lagos, why should I give the custody of a 10-year-old girl to you while her mother is alive?

“The Supreme Court concluded that children of that age require the care and attention of their biological mother, not the money of their father.

“The only reason the girl kid should not be in the mother’s custody is if the mother is mentally ill or if there is a question of infidelity.”

“Assuming the girl’s monthly cycle begins, you as a father are at a loss on what to do. The blood will make you squeamish. A delicate female girl. Your own situation has gotten worse because you’ve been accused.”

The case was continued until June 23 to allow for a continuation of the hearing.
