As the APC’s presidential candidate I will defeat Atiku. Rochas Okorocha’s Opinion

Rochas Okorocha, the former governor of Imo State and a presidential contender for the All Progressives Congress, bragged that if his party’s ticket was awarded to him, he would defeat PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar.

According to him, the APC needed a candidate who could win a large number of votes in the North to win the presidential election in 2023.

The congressman claims that he is the only candidate who has gotten nationwide support.

During an appearance on Arise Television’s political program, Okorocha remarked that his popularity and goodwill in the northern portion of the country, which is considered the PDP’s heartland, provides him an advantage over other APC candidates.

“The APC has wisely waited until the PDP has produced its candidate; now the question for the APC is who can defeat the PDP presidential candidate,” he added.

“The PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar, contested election with our President and was an APC member, and he polled big votes; what the APC needs is a leader who can poll similar votes in the North to defeat him; anything else that is based on sentiment will be a failure for us.”

“This is what we need to know: who among the APC candidates can obtain enough votes in the north, because the PDP’s primary goal is to get votes in the north.” President Buhari may not be on the ballot since most persons who have won elections on the APC platform in the past have done it because of President Buhari.

Now that such privileges are no longer available, you must seek out the man who will attract people’s attention and vote for him, and I am such man.

“In the North, I am more acceptable than any of the contenders.” I am the northern darling. The North and I have a friendly connection. I noticed their children who were not attending school in the north and supplied them with free education. Because of my tight ties with the North, some people assume that if I am elected President, power will remain in the North.”

He declared that he will defeat Atiku in his native state of Adamawa, stating that he has influenced the lives of people in the PDP’s candidate’s state.

“If I fight for election in Adamawa State today, Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President, will sweat to defeat me because I can show what I did in Adamawa State,” Okorocha stated. I encourage everyone to prove what they’ve done outside their region in other regions of the country.”
