Osinachi’s husband tells the Abuja High Court that his wife died of lung cancer

Peter Nwachukwu, the late prominent gospel singer Osinachi’s husband, has stated that, contrary to common belief, his wife died of lung cancer and not from the reported beating he gave her over time.

Nwachukwu had been detained for over a month on suspicion of murdering his wife, who died in April.

Nwachukwu was arraigned on a 23-count charge of domestic violence and homicide by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice on Friday, June 3.

Osinachi was autopsied at the Abuja National Hospital, but the results were turned over to the police.

Mr. Nwachukwu, who asserted his innocence before the court, testified as follows:

“Let me tell the world that I have been through a lot. I’ve been left alone. Cancer of the lungs killed my wife; I did not strike her.

“My wife, Osinachi Nwachukwu, died of lung cancer, so I’m suffering for what I don’t know,” he said as he was escorted from the courthouse.

Despite his claims of innocence, the judge ordered that he be held in the Kuje Correctional Facility until the trial is completed.
