Bankole Wellington, also known as Banky W, has disclosed why he chose the People’s Democratic Party to handle his political campaign (PDP).

Banky W won the Peoples Democratic Party’s primary election re-run in Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, Lagos, with 24 votes over his competitor Sam Aiboni, who received only five votes, according to KemiFilani.

After the first primary was canceled last month, the rerun was held on Monday, June 6.

Banky W explained why he selected the PDP in a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo.

Banky W described his political ambitions as something broader than himself, saying he joined the PDP to bring about reforms.

“Over the last five years, we’ve learned that we have to connect with Nigeria where it is, not where we wish it to be,” he said.

“At the end of the day, we can’t just stand on the sidelines and yell.” We can see that some of us need to infiltrate the system, that some of us need to gain access to the main platforms that already exist and transform them.

“So this is much broader than – and I say this with all seriousness and honesty – me attempting to get a seat in the House of Representatives.”
