In Imo an enraged mob sets a suspected motorcycle thief on fire

On Wednesday morning, a mob at Irette Daily Market in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State greeted one suspected motorcycle thief with jungle justice.

The suspected armed robber was set on fire after reportedly stealing a brand new motorcycle along the Onitsha express road.

Two armed robbers were involved in the motorcycle snatching, according to ecocitytv, however one escaped while the other was murdered by the mob.

According to an eyewitness who did not want to be named,

“At first, there were two suspects, but one of them bolted after reportedly snatching the motorcycle.

“One was apprehended and lynched on the spot, while the other scurried for safety.”

He went on to say that some commercial motorcycle riders chased after the suspected thieves and nabbed one right in front of the market.

A bystander, who requested anonymity, claimed that the suspect is a well-known motorcycle thief from Agwa in the state’s Oguta council area.

When called, Michael Abattam, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, agreed to call the DPO to inform him of the occurrence.
