The SMS messages, he said, were the work of shameless, desperate, and misguided people.

Tinubu’s rejection came in the form of a statement signed by his Media Office and uploaded on his verified Twitter profile.

The message is as follows:

“We have been made aware of text messages apparently from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, other candidates, and party leaders intended at APC delegates, making different fraudulent assertions about Asiwaju and the primary process.”

“We have been made aware of a text message circulating among APC delegates at Eagles Square in Abuja purporting to be from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, claiming that, with his impending victory in the APC presidential primary and emergence as the party’s presidential candidate, the APC leader has now decided on a Muslim-Muslim ticket.”

“This is nothing but a falsehood; there is no basis for it.”

“The bogus text message is a ruse used by some anti-democratic groups to confuse and deceive delegates who believe Asiwaju Tinubu is cruising to victory.”

“There isn’t a shred of truth in any of these communications. They are lies told by dishonest, desperate, and misguided people, and they should be dismissed as such.”
