On Sunday, victims of the terrible attack by gunmen on the church premises will be buried at St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Terrorists stormed the church during the Pentecost service on Sunday, killing dozens of attendees and injuring dozens more.
Various elements of society in Nigeria and overseas expressed sympathy for the attack, with many encouraging the country’s security establishment to be more active in the protection of lives and property.
The church has now stated that it is prepared to conduct a mass burial of the victims, but that the bodies will be released to families who request them.
The casualties were rushed to several hospitals, including the Federal Medical Centre Owo, St Louis Catholic Hospital, and other private institutions, according to the church’s catechist, Donatus Awololo.
He thanked God that he, too, had survived the attack.
