Bola Tinubu, who is running for president with the All Progressives Congress, or APC, says he has chosen his running mate.

Tinubu said that he had given the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the name of his running mate as required by law.

Festus Okoye, INEC’s Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, had said that the idea of a placeholder was not in the Nigerian constitution. He was responding to that.

Tinubu chose Kabiru Masari to be his running mate after he was chosen as the APC presidential candidate.

But there are rumors that Masari was just a stand-in so that APC could meet INEC’s deadline for submitting names for the running mate position.

But, through his Media Aide Tunde Rahman, Tinubu shot down claims that Masari was just a stand-in.

“I don’t want to argue with INEC’s National Commissioner, but I do want to say what’s going on with the APC’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“And it is true that Asiwaju Tinubu has filled out his nomination papers correctly, including giving information about his running mate. He sent the filled-out nomination forms back to INEC. Even better, he turned in the forms two days early.
