Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, and Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, met privately on Wednesday in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
Wike is thought to be getting ready to leave the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after losing the party’s primary elections and not being chosen as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate.

Reports say that Obi and his party are talking with Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate for the NNPP, about a possible merger.
Political analysts say that if the merger goes through, it will cause big problems for both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
