Following a fatal road crash which claimed seven lives, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has commiserated with the families of the victims.
Buni, in a statement through his spokesperson, Mamman Mohammed said he was deeply saddened by the unfortunate accident which claimed seven lives, with others injured.
The Governor cautioned motorists to always adhere to traffic rules to avoid accidents on the roads, saying the rate of road accidents in the state must be checked and reversed to save lives.
“Some of these accidents are avoidable if traffic laws are observed and vehicles plying the roads are adequately maintained to be road worthy”, he said.
Governor Buni, however, directed Yobe State Road Traffic Agency, (YOROTA) to enforce traffic laws on all the roads across the State, saying it had become necessary for the Agency to ensure that traffic laws were observed and respected to curb the spate of accidents and save lives wasted on the roads.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant their souls Aljannatur Firdausi, while also praying Allah to grant their families the fortitude to bear the loss of their loved ones.
Meanwhile, Governor Buni has directed health facilities to provide free medical services to the injured persons and also directed the State Emergency Management Agency to support the families of the deceased and those injured.
