Nigeria vs Morocco: They showed great character – Henry hails Super Falcons

Former Nigeria international, Henry Nwosu, has hailed Nigeria’s Super Falcons despite their 5-4 penalty defeat to Morocco in the semi-final of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, on Monday night.

The former midfielder said the Super Falcons showed great character against Morocco, adding that they deserved credit for taking the match to a penalty shootout despite having two red cards during the tie.

ecocitytv reports that Nigeria and Morocco had played a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes following goals from Sanaa Mssoudy and Yasmin Mrabet (OG).

“I don’t consider this as a defeat but a victory for the gallant Super Falcons despite going two players down and holding their own till the penalty shootouts,” He told Completesports.

“Credit should be accorded to the women because it was a spirited performance from them. They showed great character and determination as far as I am concerned.”

Nigeria will now face Zambia in a third place match on Friday, while both South Africa and Morocco will clash in the final on Saturday for a chance to win a maiden WAFCON title.
