A suspected kidnapper, identified as Buba Isa, was killed by local vigilantes on Monday at Mbalala Market in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.
The incident, which occurred around 4:00 p.m., was contained in a report by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region on Tuesday.
According to intelligence sources cited in the report, the suspect’s father, Isa, alerted local vigilantes about his son’s presence at the market.
Acting on the tip-off, the vigilantes confronted the 25-year-old suspect, who reportedly drew a cutlass and attempted to attack them.
“In an attempt to resist arrest and escape, the suspect brandished a cutlass, prompting the vigilantes to respond swiftly. He was shot dead while trying to flee the scene,” he stated.
