BREAKING NEWS: Scouting team in attendance yesterday during international game as Arsenal first summer signing under Andrea Berta as New sporting director confirmed – HERE WE GO

Arsenal could spend upwards of £300m on new signings this summer, according to reports.

GiveMeSport claim that incoming sporting director Andrea Berta will be given considerable resources to reshape the first-team squad

Seven players have been named as potential targets as the Gunners look to ensure they have the depth necessary to win the Premier League next season.

Injuries have definitely been a factor as to why Mikel Arteta’s side have not made a stronger challenge for top spot, but there are also areas of weakness that need to be addressed.

What positions is Berta looking to strengthen?
With Neto expected to return to Bournemouth when his loan spell ends, the club will be targeting a new goalkeeper. With Kieran Tierney and (potentially) Oleksandr Zinchenko on their way out, another left-back could be signed too.

The Gunners will also look to bring in a defensive midfielder, a winger and a striker. That means there are plenty of gaps to fill and Berta may need every penny of that £300m to make sure every position is covered.

Who will Arsenal target in the next transfer window?

GiveMeSport report that Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi is the player most likely to seal a move to the Emirates, with the Gunners expected to trigger the midfielder’s €60m (£50m) release clause.

Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes is also on the club’s radar along with his teammate Alexander Isak, although it remains to be seen whether the London club can afford the latter.

Two alternatives are being looked at: long-term target Benjamin Sesko and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha (who was once signed by Berta at Atletico Madrid). Espanyol’s Joan Garcia and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams could be brought in to strengthen the club’s options in goal and out wide.
