Nigerian Government has said that the allocation for Rivers State will be released to the Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (retd).

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, made this known while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The minister said if the administrator requests for the allocation, it will be released to him.

“And to me, it will be in order for the release of that fund because the extraordinary situation has brought them out of the normal situation of things,” Fagbemi said on whether the Federal Government would release the allocation to the state in view of the latest development.

DAILY POST reported that President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday night declared a state of emergency in Rivers State.

The President made the pronouncement in a nationwide broadcast to the nation.

The minister justified the decision of the President to declare a state of emergency in the state.

“I think the President has acted timeously. He has given the opportunity to all the parties involved to make amends,” Fagbemi added.
