Security forces have recovered 900 rustled animals following a heated exchange of gunfire with notorious bandit leaders at their hideout in Magamin Didi, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Military sources confirmed that Friday’s operation led to the retrieval of approximately 500 sheep and 400 cattle, stolen by bandit kingpins identified as Smally, Bashari Baba, and Jankwado.
Despite facing stiff resistance, the troops successfully secured the livestock. While no immediate reports of casualties or arrests were available, sources commended the soldiers for their bravery.
The recovered animals have been handed over to authorities for return to their rightful owners. Security operations in the region remain ongoing as part of broader efforts to combat banditry and restore stability.
