Nollywood actress, Wumi Toriola has clapped back at controversial food critic Opeyemi Famakin after he defended celebrity chef Tolani Tayo-Osikoya, fondly known as Chef T, over claims that she snubbed the actress’s request to feature in a cooking episode for her upcoming movie promotion.
The controversy began when Wumi Toriola publicly called out Chef T for allegedly ignoring her collaboration request.
Although Chef T has remained silent, Opeyemi took to social media to fiercely defend her, insisting she has worked too hard to have her name dragged. He also called out bloggers for being quick to report controversies while overlooking Chef T’s contributions to the food industry.
Opeyemi stressed that no one is entitled to a collaboration and recalled a past incident where an actress unfollowed him for the same reason.
Realizing she was the one he was referring to, Wumi Toriola fired back without hesitation. In a lengthy Instagram post, she slammed Opeyemi as a “coward” and accused him of chasing clout.
She dismissed his relevance in the industry, accusing him of doing “more harm than good to struggling entrepreneurs” under the guise of food criticism.
The actress wrote:
“Dear Opeyemi,
There’s really no need to act like a coward.
My name is Wumi Toriola, and I’m merely responding to your tantrums and desperate need for attention – if it brings you even a shred of relevance, I truly don’t mind.
It’s rather amusing, though, coming from someone without a defined career or any tangible job description. You’ve caused more harm than good to struggling entrepreneurs, all under the guise of being a self-appointed food critic.
Next time you feel the urge to come for me, perhaps take a moment to reflect, establish a long-term career or build a successful business of your own. That way, your words might carry a little more weight. Sincerely, Wumi Toriola.”
